25 Jul Self-Guided Walking Tours: Now On Your Phone With GPS
Exploring new places on foot is one of our favorite ways to travel. That’s why many of our blog posts feature self-guided walking tours.
We put together lists and maps of great places to visit in places like Brussels, Bruges, Paris, and Cuenca because that’s the kind of information we search for when we’re traveling. But what if we could take it a step further? Instead of taking notes from travel blogs or printing out articles, what if the blog post could become your real-time travel guide?
GPS My City Self-Guided Walking Tour App
The folks at GPS My City created an app with city walks around the world, using your smartphone’s offline GPS. So you can find new places and always know where you are on the map, but you don’t have to use expensive international data or wifi.
GPSmyCity reached out to us to translate some of our online travel articles into GPS-guided travel articles on their app. Essentially, they embed GPS coordinates in our blog posts and map a route out for you. Remember: once the app is downloaded to your phone, you will not need any internet to use the article as a guide. No more looking up directions! It will show you where you are on the map and guide you to the next location.
You can upload any travel article from GPSmyCity for free, so you can pull it up on your phone even if you don’t have wifi. If you decide you want it to be a GPS-guided article, just upgrade the article for a small fee.
