“Trails give us a means to support good physical and mental health; they provide us with a chance to breathe fresh air, get our hearts pumping, and escape from our stresses… Trails do not just magically appear for our enjoyment; their construction and maintenance takes hours of dedicated planning and labor. So give thanks to your local volunteers and consider taking a day to give back to your favorite trail.” – NationalTrailsDay.org

Hi Michelle! Thank you for your cool and beautiful look at all these great hikes. Unfortunately even though today is national trails day it is 117 out here in the La Quinta area. I did get up at 6:00 a.m. to walk the dog a couple of miles but it sure doesn’t count as a hike. Still, looking at your photos was refreshing. And I will keep them all in mind if and when I visit those locations! ~Kathy
