FAQs

Who is the small group un tour for?

Our signature un tour is for first time travelers to Vietnam. It’s an ideal way to introduce yourself to travel in Southeast Asia, with a balance of group activities and guidance for independent exploration in Hoi An. By the end of the tour, you should feel more empowered to travel on your own in the region.

Participants will enjoy a mix of relaxation, good food, sightseeing, cultural experiences. Being willing to immerse yourself in local culture, try new things, and gently challenge yourself is essential.

This is best for people who like to be active but prefer not to pack the day full with non-stop activity. You’re up for daily adventures but also happy to have some down time.

How many people will be on the tour?

This trip will be made up of 4 to 6 participants, plus your hosts, Jedd and Michelle. We will also be joined on occasion by some local Vietnamese friends and guides.

Should I book a small group tour or custom tour?

Hoping to travel with just your family or friends rather than strangers?
Want a different trip length or different dates?
Already been to Vietnam and just want an orientation to Hoi An?
Have a specific focus you want for your trip (volunteering, food, photography, retreat, luxury)?

If you answered YES to any of the above, please contact us about scheduling a custom Hoi An Fixer consultation. This can be a one-day orientation to Hoi An, or a multi-day experience.

Bring a friend, family members, or put together your own small group. We’ll work with you to craft an itinerary of experiences you’ll love within your time frame and budget.

We will be available in Hoi An January through early April 2024. Outside of this time period, we can help independent travelers through trip consultation calls.

What is the role of the trip hosts?

Jedd and Michelle have thoughtfully coordinated your itinerary with the help of local contacts. They will facilitate your cultural orientation, daily activities with the group, and offer support throughout your trip preparation and the tour week.

What is the tour cost? What does the price include and exclude?

See the Learn & Explore Trip page for pricing details.

Price includes the following:

* Activities: all activities, unless specified as “add on” in the itinerary, are included.

Each guest is responsible for organizing their own airfare and transportation to the stated start and end cities, though we can provide booking assistance for an additional fee, if needed. You will be required to share flight details at least 8 weeks before the adventure commences.

* Spending money.
* Additional tips for the Trip Hosts.

Prices for custom tours will vary based on your chosen activities, number of days, and level of accommodations. Please email us to request a quote.

Is there a minimum/maximum age for the trip?

Most tours will be 18 years old and older. However, all participants need to meet the physical requirements (see above) and consult with the trip hosts to ensure that any accommodations needed during the tour will have minimal impact on the rest of the group.

We coordinate separate trips for families with children. For family trips, there is no minimum or maximum age.

What do I need to know before booking my flights?

Each guest is responsible for organizing their own airfare to Vietnam, though we can assist with flight bookings for an extra fee. You will be required to share flight details at least 8 weeks before the trip commences.

Inbound flights should arrive into Da Nang International Airport (airport code DAD). Note that because of time zone differences, this will usually require departing from North America two days in advance. If you arrive before the tour start date, you may be responsible for your own transfer to the hotel in Hoi An.

The nearest departure airport is Da Nang (DAD). There is also train and bus service to other parts of the country from Da Nang.

What should I do to secure my spot on the trip?

The first step is to schedule a call with us to review the trip details, get to know each other, give you a chance to ask questions, etc. If, after this conversation, you’re on board to join us, you’ll receive an e-mail with details about how you can formally register, submit your first payment and sign the trip waiver.

Have more questions? We have more answers!

  • Will I need to share a room?
  • What kind of accommodations will we be staying in?
  • What kind of food will we be eating?
  • What should I pack?
  • What if I need to cancel my trip?

What have past participants have said about our hosted experiences?

For anyone that would like to visit Vietnam for the first time, this is the perfect introduction for you! We had so much fun during all of the planned activities. Michelle and Jedd are so knowledgeable on the local culture, food and daily life that we feel we can easily re-visit on our own in the future.

Michelle and Jedd put together an amazing experience for the group! We did more activities then we would have ever done on our own, and they were all amazing! Anyone who is looking to shortcut their knowledge of the area, the people, and customs, would love this tour!

This was my first time in Vietnam and this tour in Hoi An exceeded my expectations. It was a fantastic and real look at a part of Vietnam that left me wanting more. Thank you for introducing me to this gem!

My husband and I were able to tour the city of Hoi An with Jedd and Michelle during January 2019. We found them to be very interested in their clients and intuitive to our needs. They both work to accommodate the desires of their clients while remaining faithful to the culture and and high points of the area. They are a fantastic resource and know well what is wonderful to see and explore in Hoi An. Both Jedd and Michelle bring a diverse background and make an excellent team as one is outgoing and one is a processor. They compliment each other well which creates an ease among the guests. We highly recommend their services to anyone looking to explore Hoi An.
